John Shin

John Shin

John Shin is a current sophomore at Hawken. Although he has traditionally focused on mathematics, material science, and avionic engineering, he has gone into coding seeing that this skill will be essential in the future. He mainly focuses on machine learning using python. He has a number of STEM-related accolades such as Broadcom 300 and is also the co-founder of Hawken Math Club.

Spencer Fisher

Spencer Fisher

Spencer Fisher is in the class of 2023 at Hawken School. He started coding when he was a kid and has had a passion for it since. His favorite sports are soccer and lacrosse, and his favorite subject is mathematics. Spencer's main strengths in computer science include Java, R, and algorithms.

Nikhil Subhas

Nikhil Subhas

Nikhil Subhas is in the class of 2023 at Hawken. He starting coding in 1st grade on Khan Academy. Over the years he has turned those skills into front end web development and scripting. He plays soccer and runs track, and enjoys challenging and theoretical math problems. Nikhil strongest language is Javascript, but he also works in Python, Java, and sometimes Swift or C#.

Educational Leaders

Raymond Tao

Raymond Tao

Raymond Tao is in the class of 2021 at Hawken. He can't remember when he started coding, but it was before HTML 5. His interests are computer science and data science in particular. He programs mostly in Python and dabbles a bit into Java and C++. His team took first place at the regional BYTE programming competition in 2020, and he has reached USACO silver (which isn't really that impressive). His personal website may be found here.

Daniel Lyner

Daniel Lyner

Daniel Lyner is a current junior at Hawken. He is fairly new to coding. He started learning Python in the winter of 2020 through Edhesive’s online platform. Since then he has grown a passion for computer science and wants to expand his coding ability and experiment with creating real-world applicable code. Outside of academics, he enjoys playing soccer and snowboarding.
